At 2 p.m. on July 23, Tory Delany turned the key on Delany's Public House at 8110 Lakewood Main Street. It was the eighth restaurant she and her partners have opened, and the second she runs inside Lakewood Ranch. The furniture came from a woodworking shop in Derry, and the buildout took thirteen months instead of the quick refresh they first sketched out.
If you have lived here long enough to remember what was in that address two tenants ago, you have already spotted the more interesting story. Main Street's summer isn't churn. It's consolidation. Two operator groups now hold three of the block's most active rooms, and a third address at Waterside Place feeds the same kitchens with the same wine list logic. The names on the signs are new. The people signing the leases are not.
The Delany-Shore Portfolio, Now on Two Streets
Tory Delany, her husband Darren Shore, and partner Kevin O'Hanlon run Allswell Craft Cocktails & Kitchen at 7500 Island Cove Terrace inside Waterside Place. Allswell is the group's Lakewood Ranch anchor: New York-trained hospitality, a lakefront patio on Kingfisher Lake, DJ nights Fridays and Saturdays, and weekend brunch. Delany and Shore's earlier operations included The Malt House and Mezcali in Manhattan, and Delany moved to Lakewood Ranch in 2022 partly to serve the new residents arriving faster than the restaurant supply could keep up.
Delany's Public House is the deliberate second bet. It sits on Main Street, not at Waterside, and it aims squarely at the gap the group identified after four years of watching the market: a genuine Irish pub, not the plastic-shamrock version. The address had housed two operators that didn't survive, and Delany told reporters at the walkthrough that she was aware of the history.
"At this stage, this is our restaurant No. 8. We are confident and we have 30 years of hospitality behind us. We know what needs to be done."
Public House opens daily at 11 a.m., stays open until midnight Sunday through Thursday, and pushes to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Happy hour runs 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays. If you want the short version of the group's Lakewood Ranch strategy: pair a lakefront cocktail room at Waterside with a late-night pub on Main, and let the same team run both.
EZ Restaurant Group's Three-Address Play
The other consolidation on the block belongs to Chef Evan Percoco, Zach Zeller, and Matt Favero, doing business as EZ Restaurant Group. They already ran Percoco's Pizza & Pasta on Main Street and Peculiar Pub, the craft-beer and scratch-kitchen room known for Tuesday-night music bingo. In late spring the group shut down Twisted Pit BBQ, its third concept, after concluding the 1,800-square-foot room could not carry brisket economics with 22-hour cook times.
Twisted Pit's last day was Memorial Day. The following Monday, Peculiar Pub previewed its move into that same address, Suite 104 at 8130 Lakewood Main Street, directly across from its old location. The grand re-opening rode the Music on Main crowd four days later. Music bingo survived the move. So did the scratch food. What changed is square footage and hours: Saturdays now feature live music from 8 to 11 p.m., with local artists rotating through the calendar.
Three storefronts within one block, all run by the same three operators, is not the pattern this street ran on five years ago. It is a portfolio.
What Restaurant Week Actually Signaled
Taste of the Ranch, the two-week prix-fixe program that ran July 18 through August 1, is the second data point worth reading closely. Allswell served a two-course lunch at $25 and a three-course dinner at $45. That is the group treating a slow summer window as a marketing spend rather than a hazard. Restaurants that expect a lean August don't run promotions with three courses at $45. They cut hours.
Compare that to how Waterside Place is programmed the rest of the year. The Farmers' Market runs Sundays year-round. Sights + Sounds continues through the summer, with the Music Compound tribute band Heartbreakers scheduled Thursday, August 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Plaza on Kingfisher Lake. Weeknight programming does not go dark in Lakewood Ranch in August. That is why the operators keep opening.

Music on Main pulls the biggest crowd. It runs the first Friday of every month with food vendors, beer trucks, and sponsor booths on the block, dogs on short leashes welcome, no outside coolers. The event has a set-list rotation: Fleming Co. played in May, Schmitz Brothers Band in June, Silverback is booked for the next installment, and Taylor Opie Band comes in September with proceeds benefiting Manatee Children's Services.
Center Point Filled In What Main Street Couldn't
The other reason the operator consolidation matters is that Main Street stopped being the only walkable option this year. Center Point at Waterside, the 50-acre mixed-use development at Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and University Parkway, has added Bar Italia for polished Italian, 131 Main for American, Toasted Yolk Café for breakfast and brunch, Chamberlin's Natural Foods as a specialty grocer, and an Owen's Fish Camp outpost bringing the downtown Sarasota seafood concept east of I-75.
Owen's Fish Camp is the interesting arrival. It has been a fixture of downtown Sarasota for years, and the Center Point location is the first time it has crossed the interstate. If you had a standing Friday-night reservation for Owen's on Burns Court, you can now stay east and get the same menu without the drive to downtown Sarasota. That is the sort of decision that reshapes a weeknight for a household in Country Club East or Lakehouse Cove.
Taken together with Waterside Place's more than thirty tenants and the Kore steakhouse, Osteria 500, Good Liquid Brewing, Deep Lagoon Seafood, Agave Bandido, and the sushi bar Dear Fish already anchoring the Kingfisher Lake side, this corner of Lakewood Ranch now runs three legitimate dining districts within a two-mile triangle: Main Street, Waterside Place, and Center Point.
Reading Main Street This Month
Here is what all of this means if you live here. The block is being programmed, not just leased. When two operator groups control multiple addresses on the same street, the calendar starts syncing itself. Music bingo doesn't compete with Music on Main because Peculiar Pub owns both weeknight slots. Allswell's DJ nights and Delany's late-night pub hours don't cannibalize because the same team scheduled them.
For a resident, that is a legible week. Tuesdays at Peculiar Pub. First Friday for Music on Main. Thursday at The Plaza for the free 90-minute set. Saturday brunch at Allswell or a late dinner at Delany's. Sunday at the Farmers' Market. If you were waiting for Main Street to finish becoming a real downtown, you can stop waiting.
The two questions worth asking in the fall are whether Delany's Public House holds through season, given that two operators before it did not, and whether Owen's Fish Camp changes how often locals still drive to downtown Sarasota on a weeknight. Both are worth watching. Neither is a hypothetical anymore.
